You are currently viewing Dealing with the unexpected on your big day.

Not everything always goes to plan, and your wedding day is no exception. With any large event and the amount of planning and preparation that comes with it, you would expect everything to fall into place as expected. In reality, nothing is perfect, and things happen, its how we prevent it and react to it. Here are our top 5 tips to help you deal with the unexpected on your wedding day…

Plan for contingencies

Sometimes things don’t always go the way you want them to, so it’s vital to have a plan B. For instance, with the weather, make sure you have a backup plan for all outdoor events, whether this be by renting a marquee or having an indoor option, as you never truly know what the weather will do! It covers all your basis and means you have the necessary arrangements in place just in case. This avoids the panic if on the day it is raining, and you don’t have any undercover space, it’s all ready to go in case of emergencies!

Delegate Responsibility

Appoint those in your bridal party to specific roles, to ensure all is running smoothly. For example, the groomsmen are often delegated roles such as ushering the guests to the right place at the right time and a bridesmaid will often assist the bride with putting on their wedding dress. These may seem like small tasks, but delegating the roles, means that that individual aids the smooth running of that particular task, leaving minimal room for error.

Prioritise

When planning your wedding, you will be familiar with prioritising what is most important to you, this is also key on the day. If a problem arises, you often have to think quick on your feet to find a solution. It’s always important to remember, is it really that important? If won’t require more time and stress then work with your supplies to fix it, if it will take time and stress and it’s just not worth it, then it’s not meant to be. Your co-ordinator on the day will deal with this excellently

Trust your team

You have hand selected your team to help celebrate your special day with you. It’s as special to them as it is to you, and they will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time possible. I know it’s hard to say but trust your team! Many of us in the industry are experienced enough to know not everything always goes to plan and that’s okay! We will always do what we can to avoid any issues and solve them if they arise. What might seem like the end of the world at the time, doesn’t actually impact your day as much as you think it does.

Enjoy yourself

Try to not stress! We can’t stress how important this is. All of your planning efforts will pay off and you will have the most amazing day. Truthfully the day will fly by, so its important to enjoy every moment, sit back, relax, and soak it all in, after all this day it all about you, so you should enjoy it. Sometimes small hiccups happen and that’s okay, but if you keep cool and go with the flow, then it won’t ruin your day anywhere near as much as you think it will.

It goes without saying that your wedding day will be perfect regardless! But hopefully this has given you some insight into how to deal with the unexpected, if it does happen.
