This week’s real wedding is of the wonderful Ami and Beth at Crockwell in Summer 2021. After covid delays, they finally managed to celebrate their big day and it was totally magical. We asked them a few questions about their day…
Tell us your love story?
We met on a dating app called Plenty of fish. Yes, they can actually work. We lived 107 miles apart so had a long-distance relationship which was tough, but we made it through then finally moved in together two years later. We got engaged when on a trip to the Peak District and the dogs were involved in me (Ami) asking Beth with one of our girls having a sign around her neck. We had planned to get married a year after being engaged as we had been together six years so knew what we wanted but the pandemic set us back a year.
What made you choose Crockwell?
We nearly gave up when looking for a venue as we were getting rather stressed that nothing seemed perfect, and we had to compromise at every venue. We almost cancelled and delayed our wedding a year when we were due to go to Crockwell, as we were so fed up. But we said, ‘OK this is the last one’ and I’m so glad we did. Pulling up in our car, the venue looked amazing. Perfect scenery – and then we were greeted by a black Labrador at our car. We walked with the dog to the front of the venue, and we knew this was it. The venue was beyond amazing and Hermione and Rosie who we met first off were so lovely. From then onwards everyone at Crockwell were so lovely and helpful. By far the venue knocked all others out of the park in all ways.
Was there anything that you’d always dreamed of serving your guests when planning your wedding breakfast? Or any ‘non-negotiables’?
Beth badly wanted duck. It’s her favourite, and I was happy if I had roasted carrots – we all have our favourites even if a little random. I also needed ketchup, that was a must and something I seem to have never grown out of!
Why did you choose your menu style?
We had a plated menu, not only because we felt it was the safest option with the pandemic but also it gives people more options and the menu looked so amazing, we wanted various options as there was some amazing choices to choose from. The cheese soufflé and the chocolate torte were amazing. Everyone spoke very highly of the torte.
Is there any other advice you’d like to share?
Your canapés. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything so amazing. We had a few and they were all beyond expectation. The canapés are worth every penny.
Thank you Ami & Beth for sharing your big day with us!
