Crockwell Farm holds a special place in my heart. I remember taking a trip with our Director Ross to go and meet the team for our initial chats about taking over the position of sole caterer; it was a warm sunny day and the team were effortlessly friendly and welcoming. The spaces, the team, the surroundings ; it all felt so peaceful.
Over the years our relationship has only blossomed, and still to this day , driving up the path towards the venue always brings a smile to my face. There is an overriding sense of calm upon arrival, the wildflowers and animals dotted around only add to the idyllic nature of this serene venue.
I think you will struggle to find any other venue in the region were everything feels so seamless. All teams blend together perfectly, and as a client you are given all the support and guidance needed from stage one of your planning journey. This only amplifies the feeling of family that is instilled from your very first visit to the venue.
Yes, I have the luxury of visiting many outstanding venues across the region, but Crockwell will always feel like coming home. Don’t just take my word for it, have a read of our little interview below and pay them a visit.
Hey Crockwell Farm, can you tell a little bit of your History? What has made Crockwell the Venue it is today?
Crockwell is a family owned and run wedding venue established in 2002. The Harper family converted the stone farm barns to form accommodation and a party barn 20 years ago and the venue has grown organically since. In 2020, the venue underwent extensive refurbishment, with the addition of the rustic yet stylish bar, dedicated breakfast room and bridal preparation room.
You are quite a large venue and have some really adaptable spaces for your clients to use, can you talk us through those?
The venue spaces at Crockwell comprise of the stone vaulted Barn, rustic recently refurbished bar, starlit marquee and dance floor and extensive seasonal gardens. Outside ceremonies can be accommodated in the Orchard. Overnight accommodation is available on site in nine bedrooms and we provide an extensive breakfast for all overnight guests on both mornings of their stay.
Tell us a bit about the atmosphere at Crockwell
Crockwell is rustic and relaxed yet supremely comfortable and stylish. The extensive gardens provide the perfect backdrop for summer entertaining while the starlit marquee is a magical space for couples to celebrate. The venue is beautiful as it is, but can also be tailored to suit any style from English county garden to classic and contemporary.
What do you think sets you apart as a venue?
At Crockwell all couples have exclusive use of the venue over three days and two nights. Couples arrive from 2pm the day before and can enjoy the venue until midday the day after the wedding, creating a home from home experience and we hope allowing couples to relax with friends and family. We have ample on-site accommodation making it possible for couples to have their closest friends and family with them the night before and the night of the wedding.
For those who are yet to visit, can you tell me a little more about the clients wedding at Crockwell
Couples first tour is a private viewing with one of the team members who will go through in detail how the day will flow. After booking, our friendly office team will be on hand to answer any questions you have regarding your day and our amazing catering team, Ross & Ross, are always happy to help with any catering queries. Around 7/8 months before you wedding, we will hold a planning meeting with you. This is a great way to properly understand how your day will look and go through anything you need to with the Crockwell team. We usually have 2-3 open evenings throughout the year which booked couples are invited to which are great opportunities to see the venue dressed and to meet some of our recommended suppliers. Included in the facility fee is a dedicated wedding co-ordinator on the day who will be on hand the day before the wedding and on the day itself. All couples are invited to a free of charge Taster evening with Ross & Ross here at Crockwell. These evening are hugely popular and allow couples to understand the style, quality and service of both Ross & Ross and Crockwell.
What are your personal favourite parts of a wedding day?
I think the whole team at Crockwell would agree that their favourite part of any wedding is just after the ceremony, once the nerves of the couple have settled and the couple and guests are really starting to see their dream day unfold, just really relaxing into their day.
What does the future have in store for Crockwell Farm
Following the extensive refurbishments in 2020, this year we have added a spacious guest carpark providing ample parking and the facility for cars to be left overnight. We also installed a beautiful mosaic wood fired pizza oven for authentic evening pizzas provided by Ross & Ross as well as updating the bathrooms in the Farmhouse. As we look forward to the next five years, we will be focusing on further improving the accommodation on offer, eventually dedicating the entire Farmhouse to guest accommodation including the large kitchen which is a fabulous space for entertaining the night before the wedding. This will be a gradual process and therefore we have set no firm timescale for its completion, but we have no doubt that it will be a welcome addition for our couples.
